Our Story
How a weekend passion project transformed into a dedicated learning movement for the children of Pune.

Taking the First Steps
September 2025Initially, we decided to take free tuitions for the children of the maids and staff that worked at our apartment complex. We distributed pamphlets, asked residents to spread the word, and started taking classes on weekends. We focused on core, skill subjects such as Maths and English since we noticed that this was where they faced the most problems.
A Wave of Curious Minds
Late 2025This was a big success; we saw that our students were curious and eager to learn, and with a little bit of support and encouragement they would do wonders. Realising that our kids would benefit immensely from more frequent classes, we organised groups and looked for volunteers to teach on weekdays too. The classes were expanded and daily tuitions were organised.

Formalizing the Vision
Early 2026Till this point, we were taking the classes informally. Kalyan’s philosophy of giving back and education as a right existed in our minds but the formal organisation did not. We realised that forming an organisation would allow us to make a bigger impact and reach out to more children. Soon, we gathered more people, formed teams to work on design, social media, education, etc. We decided to name our initiative Kalyan, and to work for the children of Pune with renewed vigour.
Expanding Horizons
OngoingSince then, we expanded our classes to Chakankar Vasti in Baner, where we take classes for dozens of children on weekends. We also started taking extra-curricular activities such as drawing and book reading sessions. We organised donation drives and distributed notebooks, dictionaries and stationery to the children who needed it.

“Education is a right, not a privilege.”
This fundamental philosophy guided our every action. Giving back wasn't just an initiative we supported; it was an urgency we lived.
Be Part of Our Story
Although we have gotten quite far from our humble beginnings, Kalyan’s journey is not complete; we will continue to grow and reach out to more children and we would like for you to be part of this.
